Patent Number 2733491

This is a beautiful pair of rare Helena Rubinstein Designer Enamel and Gold Clip Back Earrings that are stamped HR Paris on the back. This is the same trademark she used on all her cosmetic lines, but I have been unable to find any other earrings for sale with this mark. The clip backs both have a Patent Number, 2733491, which is listed with the United States Patent Department as being issued on February 7, 1956 to Anthony Saccoccio for the clip finding (see picture of patent). The ear clips are in excellent condition. That would date these earrings most likely to the late 1950s.

Helena Rubinstein was born in Poland and later moved to Australia and then to England where she distributed a line of beauty creams. In 1914 she moved to Paris and opened a salon. When WWI began, she moved with her family to New York City where she expanded her business to other major U.S. Cities. She died in 1965 at the age of 94.

This is a simple and elegant design in cream enamel with gold. There is a dual leaf style design on the front in gold as well. There are openings above and below the gold design section which adds to the style and design, it accentuates the stripes in the gold bands.

These are in great vintage condition as you can see by the pictures. The clip backs sit at a slight angle, but they are both at slight angles, so I believe that is how they were made. There is a tiny bit of black on the gold finished backs (see picture), but you don't see it without magnification.
