This is a stunning vintage Miracle Sol D’ Or brooch or pin and pendant.  The brooch has a bail and can be used as a necklace pendant as well as a brooch. The chain in the photo is not included. The design is of the Gotland Sea Serpent or Intertwined Dragon, which is almost identical to the image on an old 11th Century Silver Bowl found in Gotland, Sweden. Miracle jewelry creations were often replicas of ancient pieces.

The Viking Urness Style Embossed stylistic Dragon or Sea Serpent is done in gold tone with rich green, red, blue and yellow enamel surrounding it. There are hearts and leaves inside the creature's body, which reminds me of the Infinity Symbol or Celtic Knots. Throughout history the serpent is thought to impart knowledge and wisdom. The brooch measures approximately 1 ¼ inches in diameter. It is signed on the back “MIRACLE” and “SOLD’OR” on rectangular cartouches.

Miracle Jewelry has been produced in England since 1946 by A. Hill and Company in Birmingham. Since they began designing the jewelry line they have been the leading producer of Celtic, Irish and Scottish styles. Their designs were inspired by the old Scottish and Celtic artistry. Sol D'Or, which means Sun of Gold was a trademark of Hill and usually meant it was distributed in Ireland.

It is in excellent vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. I don't know the date this was created but I would imagine the 1960s through early 1980s. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe.
