A U.S. Space program, called Mercury, was taking shape in the 1960s. On February 20, 1962, Lieutenant Colonel John H. Glenn, Jr., of the U.S. Marine Corps became the first U.S. astronaut to orbit the earth, in a flight of three orbits.

 

305 post offices all over the country released the Project Mercury stamp for sale to the public at 3:30 pm upon the successful splashdown of Astronaut John Glenn Jr,.

This item is NEW and is in excellent condition - have been stored flat - never folded.  I have tried to accurately and honestly describe the features and condition of this item. Please examine the photo(s) and description carefully.
