Lemon Catnip. Nepeta cataria v. citrata. Medicinal. 2-3 ft. Hardy Perennial. Known to be used medicinally as a digestive or sleeping aid, the lemon-scented leaves make a fine tea. Use dried or fresh to bring pleasure to your feline friends. Excellent as a companion plant, deterring aphids and several types of beetles. Scarify seeds to aid germination by rubbing lightly back and forth 3 or 4 times between sheets of extra-fine sandpaper. Start indoors or sow outdoors up to 2 months before the last frost. Thin plants when they are 3-4 inches tall. Leaves can be picked anytime the cat wants them! Use fresh or dry.
