Depending on factors outside of our control, the Yellow Christmas Cactus' color can change from yellow to peach-yellow to pinkish-yellow. These consist of soil pH, soil fertility content, temperature, and shipping time. Examples of the Yellow Christmas Cactus' color spectrum are displayed on the left. We cannot guarantee that the plant will arrive in bloom as Christmas draws near. Christmas cacti may lose their flower buds during shipping, again because of uncontrollable circumstances.Zygocactus, or the Christmas cactus, is indigenous to the jungles of South America. The flowers are only in bloom once a year and are available in a variety of colors, including pink, white, orange, red, yellow, salmon, and sometimes even combinations of these. Tropical plants are what we call Christmas cacti. They need sunlight, and in colder weather, the blooms last longer. Keep them clear of furnace ducts, radiators, heaters, fireplaces, and other heat sources. You will need to give the plant a period of rest so that it will bloom in time for Christmas.Reduce the amount of watering so that the soil is only partially moist. Till the buds start to form, give the plant at least 14 hours of complete darkness at night and sunlight during the day. The dark period should begin in early September. It may take the buds ten to twelve weeks to open fully.
