This is a stunning vintage patriotic brooch or pin. The gold tone metal is hand painted in a lovely creamy white enamel with gold accents. The eagle has a red eye and a yellow beak. It is oversized and measures approximately 3 ¾ inches across and 2 inches tall. The Eagle is holding an olive or laurel branch and 3 arrows in its talons. It is highly detailed with gold accents, a red eye and yellow beak. The head is facing to the right towards the branch, which symbolizes peace. It is very three dimensional and has a high relief. It is unsigned, and is very similar to the Coro Eagle Brooch. This is a substantial piece of jewelry and weighs .95 oz. or 26.93 grams.
This impressive brooch is in nice vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. There is some crazing and some slight loss of the enamel in a few tiny spots. You don't see it without magnification, but I wanted to point it out. The brooch also needs a good cleaning, but I did not want to risk damaging the enamel. I will leave that up to you. There is some wear of the gold plating on the back of the pin. Because of the finish loss, the price has been reduced to reflect the condition. You can easily touch it up if you so desire. Please look carefully at the photos as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe. It has a rollover safety clasp on the back that works fine.
This pin is a great way to show your support for our troops. A great gift for anyone with a family member in Military Service, a true patriotic brooch. It would work for either a man or a woman. It would look wonderful on a jacket lapel, scarf, hat, or even on a purse.
