Flowers in Black Vase seemingly made itself in a single creative session. I had received a set of color-coordinated fat quarters which I get periodically from Pincushion Boutique, and though they did not appeal to me particularly when they first arrived, at this point they spoke to me, and quite eloquently.  Within ten minutes, I had the preliminary layout, and only made slight changes during construction.   Notice that the vase and the background have the same design with a different color set-up

This piece called for a precise oval shape, and a border matching the fabric for the vase.  It won the "Art of the Month" award at the Framingham Artists Guild.

My artwork is mounted on foam core, which creates a light-weight but rigid piece with a wire for hanging and  a felt backing. It is treated with a sun-block spray, although prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may eventually cause fading.
