This is a gorgeous brooch or pin depicting a pair of Manatees among the coral reef. The Manatees are sometimes called sea cows and they have been linked to folklore on mermaids. They are graceful swimmers and use their tails to push them along. They never leave the water, but do need to surface to breathe air. The brooch is a gold tone metal with silver accents to add texture to the wearable art sculpture. The Manatees are quite detailed and almost have personality. It measures approximately 3 ΒΌ inches wide and 2 inches high. It is not signed, but it appears to be of designer quality and hand made. It almost looks like gold wash over sterling silver, but it is not marked and has not been tested.
This is a unique design and is quite dramatic. It is in great used condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe.
