Vintage Taxco Mexico Angel Fish Brooch Pin Sterling Silver Brass
Figural Married Mixed Metals Metales
Mexican Artisan TA 160
Artist Signed Silversmith
Wavy Snake Hallmark
Safety Catch

This is a gorgeous sterling silver and brass Angel Fish brooch from Taxco, Mexico. It is marked .925 Mexico on the back and TA 160 with a wavy snake below, most likely the Artisan's Hallmark. The T stands for Taxco, the A is the initial of the Silversmith's last name, and the number 160 means he was the 160th Silversmith to register that mark of TA. This is from the post 1979 era of Mexico Sterling Silver history, most likely from the 1980s.

This fabulous brooch or pin is in excellent vintage condition, with no flaws evident. This pin has been well looked after. The fish measures 2 1/2 inches long by 2 1/2 inches tall. It has a safety catch closure on the back. I have not polished it, I will leave that up to you since many people prefer the patina that forms with age.

This would be a great piece to add to your collection of Mexican Jewelry. With the mixed metals of Sterling and Brass it is a little different than the traditional style of Mexican Jewelry. A fun piece of jewelry that will bring you many complements.
