Fleur de Lis was my response to a "Flower Power" competition, where the main qualification for entry was the use of a summer flower. My choice was the lily, on a background which is the French chevron called Fleur de Lis, meaning lily. This is my first experimentation with a material called Angelina Fiber®, which bonds to itself when ironed and creates a sparkly glistening iridescent effect. The three large lilies and the leaves are all fabric embellished with Angelina, and the petals of the two smaller lilies are entire made with Angelina. The edging is lace, painted with gold Lumier® paint.

My artwork is mounted on foam core, which creates a light-weight but rigid piece with a wire for hanging and  a felt backing. It is treated with a sun-block spray, although prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may eventually cause fading.
