Belt Buckle
1970s

This is a great vintage Nine-Banded Armadillo themed belt buckle by Lancer. I think this is from Texas, especially since the Armadillo is the state small mammal of Texas. It is not dated, but I believe it is from the 1970s. I think it is brass, but it could be a metal base with a brass color on it. A magnet does not stick to the buckle part, but it does stick to the loop section on the back.

The Armadillo was originally native to South American, but now can be found as far north as Texas and Oklahoma. It is a cat-sized animal that looks somewhat like an Anteater. The Armadillo’s scaled shell protects it from predators. They are common here in Florida and we have seen them in our back yard at night digging.

This belt buckle has an intricate Armadillo image and is approximately 2 3/4 inches long and 2 1/4 inches wide. It is in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged pictures. I have not polished it as many people prefer the older patina that only comes with age. This is a wonderful buckle to add to any collection and a great gift for someone who is from out West or collects Armadillos. If you work for a company with the name of Lancer or are on a sports team with that name, what fun it would be to have this buckle.
