Art Nouveau Tortoise Shell and Gold Scarab Insect Sash Buckle 1890's Rare Tortoise Pinchbeck Winged Beetle 2 Piece Jugendstil Cloak Clasp

Rare,  Art Nouveau, Jugendstil/Secession genuine Tortoise Shell  and Pinchbeck  or low carat gold Winged Beetle/Scarab Sash belt Buckle  probably German/Austrian in origin circa 1890-1905
Gorgeous, two piece belt/cape buckle genuine, translucent golden yellow with mottled brown markings ,Tortoise shell each one with a dimensional,   probably  9k carat gold winged Scarab/ Insect in the center.
Each oval Tortoise shell piece measures 1 3/4" x 2" inches wide and have sturdy brass or brass fittings. The Pinchbeck /gold winged Scarab are riveted directly into the Tortoise shell.
 There are no breaks, no cracks, no splits, no dents, no other chips and no repairs a true Art Nouveau  Jugendstil piece in excellent condition .
Art Nouveau jewelry, from 1890-1905, had a very distinctive style. Everything was handcrafted , feminine and romantic curvy lines, organic designs like flowers, Butterflies , Dragonflies etc.
Jewelry material that was used beside gold, silver and copper were Tortoise shell, Horn, Ivory, carved glass and enameling along with Pastel gemstones like cabochon Opals,  Citrine, Peridot and Amber were used as well as Pearls.
Pinchbeck
An alloy of copper and zinc (about 83 to 17) that was invented, c. 1720, by Christopher Pinchbeck. It resembled, but was much lighter than, gold and was used in making inexpensive jewelry, including watch cases, chatelaines, buckles, clasps, snuff-boxes, étuis, etc.
