This is a mint 2017 USPS stamp sheet of 20 self adhesive FOREVER stamps commemorating the 200th anniversary of Illinois statehood. Illinois became thr 21st state in the Union on December 3, 1818.

This graphic illustration of the state map contains a series of yellow beams radiating upward like the rays of the rising sun, fading upwards to pale yellow then pale bue that goes deeper until the top of the map. The yellows and blues reflect the dawning of a new day as the state joins the Union. The top of the stamp has 20 stars representing the first 20 states in the Union. Nicknamed the Pirate State, a good part of  Illinois is flat.

Springfied is the state capital. Chicago, the state's largest city, the 3rd larges in the US, is a cultural and financial cneter with museums and architecture, music and theater that are internationally renowed.

The state is birthplace to some of America's most important people: President Abraham Lincoln, Miles Davis, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Jane Addams, Ronald Reagan, Jack Benny, Wild Bill Hickok, Walt Disney, Ernest Heminway, Lorraine Hansberry, Carl Sandburg, and Native American leader Black Hawk.

Ilinois artist Michael Konetzka designed the stamp and created the artwork under the direction of Antonio Alcala. The pane contains 20 stamps.
