This is a lovely and striking hand made vintage abstract riveted layered metal/brass oblong or navette shaped dangle bar brooch/pin. The brooch has an Oriental or Asian style to it. The top layer is a striking aqua verdigris green, or turquoise color finish with gold accents. It is mounted to a black enamel brass background which gives it a lovely contrast. Dangling from the bar pin is a fan shaped piece with a bezel set black onyx or stone cabochon and a raised bumpy brass finish on the bottom of the fan . The bar has a unique shape and style with tapered ends. The oblong oval or navette shaped brooch measures 2 3/8 inches across and 1 1/2 inches tall. It has a standard pin back with a rollover ā€œcā€ clasp. There are four rivets that hold the top metal plate to the bottom plate. This is most likely from the 1960s to 1970s, it is unmarked.

It is in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. If you look at the top right corner of the fan, there is a tiny little spot where paint is missing. It looks as though this may have been where the piece was held while being made. You can't really see it without the magnification. You can tell it was handmade because of the slight irregularities in the edge and shape of the piece.  I have not been able to find another like it on any of my searches. I'm not positive as to the materials, it may be a mixed metal with the top layer done in copper, but I can't tell with the paint or enamel on it. A magnet does not stick to it. I also don't know if the stone is faux Onyx or real Onyx.

This would look great with that little black dress or on a jacket lapel with your favorite pair of casual jeans.
