This is a lovely vintage 800 silver figural brooch of two birds landing on and tending their two eggs lying in a bird’s nest on a branch. At one time this was most likely gold plated or had some enamel on it and there are traces of the plating that give the brooch a rainbow effect, especially on the back. It is marked “800” for the silver content on a cartouche on the reverse of the pin. The 800 mark was used mostly in European countries such as; Germany, Italy, France, and Switzerland. The brooch shows elaborate and delicate beauty and quality craftsmanship. I believe this type of design is known as Cannetille, which is a 3-dimensional filigree of fine wires with scrolls and coils. The patina is a deep rich greyish silver. It measures approximately 2 ¼ inches wide and 1 ½ inches tall. It weighs .30 ounces on my postage scale, which converts to 8.50 grams.

This brooch is in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. I have not polished it as many people prefer the rich patina that only comes with age. Depending on your own taste, I will leave any polishing up to you; you can keep it in the same condition with its original patina or polish it. It fastens with a roll over safety clasp.
