These string lights are plastic type bulb covers The lights have 2 strands that meet in the box at the middle. Each strand is 12 foot long approximately with 8 lights on each strand for a total of 16 lights. Think of the box in the middle going into he middle of an archway door way and each strand going down each side. Or the box in the middle where the cord is and going out each strand 12 feet each direction. The lights also flash on and off and you can't change that. These have never been used only taken out of the box and plugged in for pictures for this listing.
