Update: There's been some feedback on this post that I wasn't considering the community efforts to promote the site in saying the traffic bump wasn't the result of PR. To be clear I meant a traditional PR effort where Bonanza sends out a press release and we get links back from major publications like CNN, Business Week, or blogs like Techflash.
I am VERY thankful and appreciative of the community efforts to promote the site. I intended to make that clear in the 'referring sites' mention, but it wasn't clear. My apologies.

The other day I mentioned that we're now on page #1 of Google for a keyword search on 'Bonanza.' That's nice and all, but most of our traffic, as you know, comes from searches for specific items.
I'm happy to report that Tuesday was the biggest traffic day we've ever had at Bonanza (or Bonanzle). What makes me particularly pleased is that this wasn't a result of some big PR effort. It was the result of combined efforts to drive more traffic from search, from social media, from email, and referring sites. Below is a graph of traffic on Bonanza.com. You can a steady climb after we launched the site, a big jump once we started redirecting users who went to bonanzle.com, and our record day on Tuesday.
Better yet? We're working on a 'lil something to drive even more qualified traffic to the site. But that's a secret...for now.

WooHoo!
Now THAT’s NEWS!!!

Wow, Good Deal!!!
Thanks, Alex for the update and the graphics. It’s awesome, but now I’ll be thinking about the secret!
Nice to see that! Hopefully all our products will get there soon too~
Awesome!
Thanks for the frequent updates.
So what’s the secret? You can trust us :-)
Great news! Thanks for the update.
Made some sales that day, Great news!
Pssst, someone has a secret! Not me
Good news that traffic is going steadily up; I’d noticed that even in the Alexa ratings. However, since everyone has been going crazy promoting and advertising and linking (PR?), etc., especially after that first ‘shockwave’ week, I’d like to think we all may have helped just a tad, redirect notwithstanding.
thanks for the info alex and glad site traffic is up
>>>>I’d like to think we all may have helped just a tad,<<<
I would think that is a safe bet silk … it is the time of year everyone is pushing to get those Holiday sales and everyone has been promoting more in the past month or so than they have been over the summer
Good to know the site is doing things and has plans to increase traffic
Hoping all this site traffic will finally make it to my booths since all of my item views are down in all of my booths. I am actually at an all time low.
Hoping it will bring all of us some good holiday sales
Well thats good news! I agree with Silk,
But maybe more than a Tad!
I KNOW great effort is put in by so many of the Bonanza members here to advertize not only for themselves but for ALL of Bonanza and I am especially thankful and grateful to them all!
I know that right after the name change I had a number of sales in succession…but then this last week my booth views and sales have tanked…haven’t had this happen since I opened my main booth over a year ago.
Thanks Alex!
Now the trick is, converting those visits to sales.
Visits mean nothing if they don’t buy.
It only takes one visitor to make a sale – a buying visitor.
It would be nice if Bonz would become a destination, that’s what I would like to see. (I know it takes time.)
I hope Bonz is working on something to make the site a destination and promotes customer loyalty beyond what us sellers can do.
Based on my recent sale (2 days after changing my callback url), and inquiries for potential sales, I can see from even my small scale that there are increases…..and I am so pleased to see this information from you all. Thanks again Alex.
I’m sure you all have helped quite a bit. Many of those referrals are from your collective efforts!
@Catnutti – check your Google data again. We found that they were a bit delayed for two days there (not uncommon). They report what appear to be ‘down’ days and then things magically pop back up after they catch up. Lots of startup companies use Google Analytics around here – sadly we’re getting used to it.
Excellent news… Thats a great achievement but I hope ya’ll are still working on Mega-tags to get us listed under such catagories as Online Shopping Sites…
I think the Renaissance Faire could have a bit to do with the tues numbers I mean it was promoted by us everywhere started on friday and continued so I am just saying that could have a bit to do with it
and i feel the Renaissance Faire was a big PR effort and everything we do EVERY day is a big PR effort, i tweet send items to facebook send hpl to every outlet i can send it to and I feel a bit slapped in the face when you state “What makes me particularly pleased is that this wasn’t a result of some big PR effort” WE do PR every day sighhh
Good job everyone….great news…
HATE to rain on your parade here … but I must say that if the site loaded in a little faster – I bet traffic would be even better.
I just spent one hour up loading two listings . Most of the time was spent waiting for site to load in.
You need to lighten it up some more …. Still many on dial up and when eBay loads faster – you go a problem
While you are striving for more traffic – please consider speed of site. It CAN and WILL affect the traffic
thanks for the update!
It would be nice ,in order for us to appreciate the improvement , to have a vertical scale on the graph.
William.
Great news! Thanks.
That’s great!! I had one sale on Tues and one on Wed. The Wed. sale came from sending the buyer here from my other venue.

I love it, I need traffic!
Smiles, Cyndi
Good news on the traffic!
Agree with Renegade about speed of loading on Bonanza. From what I’ve read approximately a third of users are still on dial-up in this country, and sites are not taking that into consideration. Very frustrating trying to load booths so anyone can spend money. I purchased something this week and checkout was painfully slow.
This really worries me since my booth views are down to the lowest ever and I have someone promoting this booth.
I will get excited about this when the sales come to either of my 2 booths.
I know it is a work in progress and I appreciate all the hard work…
Alex did you really mean you received pleasure in NOT receiving traffic via our (us Members) efforts? I think you couldn’t possibly have chosen more hurtful discouraging words for all of us that worked hard on this endeavor.
I see your graph shows the appropriate spikes. BUT, where is your proof (other than presumption) that “the increase came from your drive………ref. sites.”
Could it not have been from the 1000 groups’ folowers and notifications to their buyers?
How about all the curiosity people from all the blogs about the name change and 1000. acuisition?
How about from all the members that changed all their URL’s in multiple blogs,Fb, Tweets, and personal web pages as well as selling groups?
Too much of these presumptions are nonfactual and it has to be a consorted effort of us ALL AS A TEAM. Now lets see some correlation statistics of the sales made with a different color line superimpossed on that chart.
Now that is where the true gist lies for us all isn’t it?
I’m not trying to burst your bubble but data interpetation can be such a subjective thing when we assume too much.
The blog post states “combined efforts to drive more traffic from search, from social media, from email, and referring sites.” Wouldn’t that include members’ efforts? With all due respect, I don’t think Alex meant to disrespect anyone, and I think some of you are way too sensitive.
We all know that this site is where it is because of the members’ efforts. Alex was just trying to show us that the new URL is now at the levels of the old URL so that people know we are going to be okay.
@BARNTIQUES859 – Wow. That’s not what I meant at all.
By PR I was referring to traditional PR where we send a press release that gets picked up by lots of sites and publications. In this sense there wasn’t one big link from someone like CNN or Business Week that would explain the traffic. I very much meant that it was a team effort thus the mention of email, social site work, referring sites, etc. By referring sites I was referring to all of the great work that you guys do to promote Bonanza on your own. Something I am very appreciative of.
I intended for update to be a congratulatory post that’s good news for everyone and certainly not something discouraging.
@ Flourishes – check your Google data in a few days. It looks like they are behind in their reporting making it look like traffic is down. Annoying, but not uncommon.
ok buddy you’re off the hook. LOl but it would be interesting to superimpose a sales graphline on that one you’ve got there wouldn’t it?
thanks alex I will give it a few days to see..
I, too, would like to see how traffic and sales relate.
while it’s good that there was a lot of traffic
I do think that was to be expected with all the hubbub over the name change .. humans are curious animals
I also would think a sales graphline for that period before and after would be good also since many of us are seeing less sales and less item views
many just popping into check out the site is great and could be fabulous if they buy or return to buy .. but, what most of us are concerned about is people viewing our items and that is just not as good as it was even though there has been much more promoting going on
Alex~this is Awesome news!! But now you are leaving us in SUSPENSE again. Inquiring minds want to know
“Better yet? We’re working on a ‘lil something to drive even more qualified traffic to the site. But that’s a secret…for now.”
I guess we will find out soon enough~possibly Bixbe?http://bonanzapublic.s3.amazonaws.com/images/emoticons/smile_1.png!

Yes Alex that was a bit unfair on those Bonanzlers who raised their own money to run some nationwide adverts, doing the job you should be doing.
What you are really saying in your original post is that traffic is up and its a result of all of our efforts, social networking etc and that you don’t need to do anything more as it will keep growing.
It looks as if the views are compounding as a results of everyone’s efforts.
My views and sales are up. All the buyers have told me that they will be back.
As long as there is a need for a site like this, and with the huge influx of sellers coming in, it looks as if there is, than we will continue to grow.
It’s still early days yet and we need to be patient.
Alex, I really appreciate you thanking people for all the promotion they have done !
I don’t know about views .. I only check my items sold section LOL
@juliebabe25 – if you read my comments and blog update you’ll hopefully see I was trying to be appreciative of everyones efforts. I am certainly NOT saying bonanza doesn’t need to do anything else to grow traffic. Quite the contrary, we work on growing traffic quite a bit.
