Bonanza

Before I get started let me same my intention is not to bash Bonanza but to share what I have learned today.
I have spent some time examining why I have no sales on Bonanza. What I have learned is that many other sellers are of the opinion that Bonanza throttles your listing unless you pay.
Also many sellers are of the opinion that if your going to purchase a store that ebay is a better investment for that store because your sales actually increase. The sellers that have invested in the store or membership at Bonanza have found that the traffic and sales remained pretty much the same.
Another thing many sellers believe is google shopping is the cause for most sales at Bonanza and definitely not on site traffic at Bonanza because most online shoppers have never heard of Bonanza and for that reason site traffic is non existent. Hom many of you go to google shopping to find an item before you go directly to a site like eBay or Amazon that you are familiar with?
The thing that bothers me the most of all of this is the thought of my listings being throttled in search. I sale on other sites and have more then 1 account on eBay for sales. I have good sales overall but see no activity here on Bonanza.
I know Bonanza defenders are going to say you have to promote your items and this and that.
I have promoted my items here at Bonanza on social media the same as I do for the other sites I sale on.
I’m going to give this Bonanza site 2 more months to see what happens.
I honestly believe that Bonanza is crippling itself by not advertising and throttling.
Bonanza if you want a larger number of sales and more sellers and buyers you are going to have to market yourself. 10 Year’s And most online shoppers never heard of you. That’s a problem.

I am not sure about the throttling but I do agree Bonanza is too slow (I’m sad to say). I cannot say much on advertising on my own because I’ve hardly touched that area but I do feel a site I sell on should have decent traffic and most of the burden of traffic should not fall so much on me.

EmpressDepot says: April 04, 2018

I use Google shopping quite often rather than going to, say eBay or Etsy first. The reason being is that you’d be surprised how many listings on those sites are not actually appearing on those sites but do come up in Google shopping. I really like using Google shopping.

EmpressDepot says: April 04, 2018

I too, look at the number of sales over a period of time and take this into consideration as to the success here on Bonanza. Like I said the other day, since traffic is slow on Bonanza, having even some sales each month shows that a seller is doing something right. Am I happy with that? No.

EmpressDepot says: April 04, 2018

I also take into consideration when sellers are posting on no sales, if there is room for improvement and most of the time there is. It can be difficult for sellers to have an objective opinion on their listings…and I’m not saying my listings are perfect. I’m just saying that with a place like ..

EmpressDepot says: April 04, 2018

eBay where the listings move on up, trying to use every keyword is not quite as important but on places like Bonanza it is very important. I still think traffic here on Bonanza is too slow though.

loves_birds says: April 04, 2018

If you don’t think much has happened on Bonanza in the last ten years, I seriously doubt things are going to change for you during your final two month Bonanza ultimatum.

classic_wears says: April 04, 2018

I imported around 4000 of my eBay items into Bonanza and paid the $200 titan membership for a month to see what would happen. Since then, I have over 100 eBay sales and 1 Bonanza sale. I don’t imagine I will renew for another month…I had hopes of this boosting my overall sales :(

zappys_closet says: April 04, 2018

Bird Boy I’m sure a lot has happened here over 10 years, site looks great and functions pretty nicely. Now it’s time to make Bonanza known to online shoppers. It’s time for Bonanza to get the name out there

loves_birds says: April 05, 2018

Bird Boy? Nice person, you are not. But we are happy that you are here to rescue Bonnanza.

zappys_closet says: April 05, 2018

I’m not here to rescue Bonanza. I’m at several sites to sell my goods. My loyalty is to my buyers.

luxuryintimates says: April 27, 2018

I sell on Ebay as well the sales are much better here than there. Bonanza has the best listing tools overall and it’s a shame that they don’t have more traffic here. I hope that they work on making a bigger name for themselves so that we can get more traffic.

luxuryintimates says: April 27, 2018

Part 2 – I meant to say that I have more sales with Ebay. My Bonanza sales are not that great but I stay here because it’s a really good platform.

gramme2six says: May 08, 2018

Hmmm? I am not happy……..wheres the meat? SALES????

To each their own, however, my sales continue to increase monthly here on Bonanza. Now, with that being said, I put in about 2-3 hours a day between here and my other sites constantly upgrading pics, advertising, adding new items which I do daily etc. I used to sell on Feebay and did from about [phone number removed] until the fees became ridiculous and the buyers became shadier and shadier. Does it take more work here…YES! but there is nothing wrong with that as for running a business you must put the time in and there are no fees unless you sell something, you are out no money whatsoever, making this a great place to create your display booth, draw people from the other sites to here, I myself offer various coupons within each order either from this site or others but always direct them to my booth here, I also have a few of the people here advertise for me which works great. Bonanza has great customer service, they do not charge ridiculous fees, extremely easy to use and navigate, constantly updating etc. I can already tell you that it will take more than 2 months to get your booth booming especially since we are coming into the slow time for online sales on every site, but, you cannot blame a site for your booths downfall. There are so many sites to sell on now and customers know this and price check everything, But Bonanza continues to remain within the top 6 yearly meaning many have heard of Bonanza, but continue to go to Feebay or Amazon where they can get a possibly cheaper deal, that blows my mind as Bonanza is so much better than both of those. Hopefully it works out for you!

Not trying to be mean but 45 sales feedback since 2014 is not killing it.

My comparison is

zappys_closet says: April 03, 2018

O ya, great customer service is paying to have a premium store before you can have phone number instead of an email. Not!!!

misskeech says: April 03, 2018

Many buyers on average do NOT leave feedback, so if you are looking at the feedback to judge how many sales, that wont work. I just had a few really nice sales here, but they did not leave fb. So you cannot judge what someone is selling by that.

misskeech says: April 03, 2018

Also, i have never had the need for a phone number for customer service, i get very quick replies and they are on top of any problems that come up. Unlike other sites.

zappys_closet says: April 03, 2018

Yes I know feedback is generally 50% of your purchases everywhere, but still 4 years should create more feedback then that if your killing it. Reserving the customer service phone number for the sellers that pay the max Only is just uncool

I think you’re being a little too hard on Bonanza. It’s a great selling venue. Yes, getting people here is a problem, but that’s the case if you have your own site, and other selling venue’s as well. After TONS of research for the last few years, it’s clear that amazon is the big problem for small sellers no matter the venue. They’re sucking the life out of small businesses, literally bankrupting some. They’ve totally monopolized e-commerce. Until they’re reigned in, us little sellers will struggle. But I think changes are coming – sure hope so, anyway. There’s now reason to believe something will be done about their swindling and crushing other businesses.

And then there’s google…love of the big players, no friend to the little guy/gal. But since people keep flocking to google in spite of all the negatives and privacy issues, it’s used to get some traffic here. I get that and accept that in spite of my loathing for that G-monster, but have hope it will change in time because google’s practices are so unfair and slowly but surely people are becoming more aware of their shenanigans.

Next we have fake – er – facebook and twitter i.e. social networking. That isn’t going to help at all. It’s too saturated and people are using it more to bash, trash, fight, bicker, swindle, stalk, lie, cheat and steal – not shop. The ads on those sites also favor the big players/spenders and consider the small business person useless because that’s what those sites are really all about – gathering people’s personal data and using it for advertising.

You could encourage your fee-bay customers to come here. I put a business card in each fee bay sale and on it I have “for a bigger selection visit my Bonanza booth” and then add the URL. I’ve already gotten a few sales here by doing that and I just started. I offer items here that I don’t on fee bay and some items I price lower. If everything is duplicated here or on fee bay, fee bay is more likely to get the top result just because people are more familiar with them.

As sellers here, I really believe we have to be more creative in getting people to our booths. Social networking is a bust – waste of time and money if you’re buying “likes” and/or tweets. And quality listings are important – cheap junky listings make the whole site look – well, cheap.

I’m rambling, sorry. Either keep working it or if you’re so discouraged you’re getting yourself all upset, perhaps Bonanza isn’t a good fit for you. Good luck whatever you decide to do.

I don’t care where my items sale, I only care that they sale.

zappys_closet says: April 04, 2018

I have no issue promoting my goods where ever they are listed. As far as picking one site over another I choose to do that by the amount of sales one produces over the other.

zappys_closet says: April 04, 2018

I love the worked up comment

zappys_closet says: April 04, 2018

I notice you have 167 feed back on eBay in the last 30 days so that most likely computes to 200 sales at least there, how does that match up with Bonanza sales

whimseys says: April 09, 2018

“fee bay is more likely to get the top result just because people are more familiar with them.” That’s the problem—people don’t know Bonanza. I, too, put a TY card in every ebay sale with my domain url which is directed to my booth here. I also put it in every feedback I leave on ebay.

zappys_closet says: April 09, 2018

Looks as if the comments I was referring to above where removed,

I am slowly transferring all my Bonanza items to another site. I opened my own site and have it as an online store. I like having my own place a lot better. I’ve been on Bonanza since around November of 2017, and have made about 4 sales. I have advertised the crapola out of my booth here to no avail. It;s just not worth hanging around any longer.

You are actually probably better off here on Bonanza, your own site will have to match up to all of google shopping policiesto stand a chance. Just like any site it is not 1998 any more and you can’t just put something out there and sale it.

zappys_closet says: April 04, 2018

But if you Spread some type of fake news like Amazon, eBay or some other big player is looking at buying you out it may catch main stream attention and get you advertising that you can’t purchase.

zappys_closet says: April 04, 2018

I suggest being online 10 years before making that move.

KarensCollections says: April 05, 2018

I advertise it on several social media sites just like I do here. I just launched it a few weeks ago and I’m already getting more traffic there than I did here.

well, its safe to say i have tried everything on nanza. at this time i have tried 2 of their subscriptions. and i have google and bing ads pointed at this site and i havent sold anything. that being said i sell like crazy on ebay. and i have tried telling nanza. but it must have fell on deaf ears. if they would get their butts in gear and do something they would make decent money off me alone. but, i guess they dont want to i dont know. i just use this place for a picture dump so i can store my pics and stuff here instead of on my puter

It is a shame, great site nice functionality but No effort in advertising the site and I’ve been made to believe the throttling Of Listings. Not many sellers will pay for traffic or a store where there appears to be no sales.

Atomicdiner says: April 06, 2018

Pretty much my understanding too. I dont pay on other sites and get sales. I wont go over the 13pct fee here else I will sell on auction site for less.

Atomicdiner says: April 06, 2018

Dont get me wrong, I really like Bonanza but dont sell enough to justify paying for views (that I get for free on auction site). It is just that I am not a big fan of auction site as things are getting much worse there. Bonz has oppurtunity to gain if they want to.

your statement is simply not true – it is up to you to get your items promoted and out there via social media or other venues

In that case it would make no sense to pay any extra money for a store and share the very minimum for fees

FrogAndBearCreations says: April 08, 2018

I do not pay – I simply use bonanza as my selling platform and promote in the groups I belong to on facebook

FrogAndBearCreations says: April 08, 2018

I only pay my portion of a sale made – no extra bucks for the bells and whistles

Well it looks as if what I originally stated is divided 50/50
Perhaps Bonanza has a click

What empirical data do you have to back up your claim? How many sellers comprise your “many sellers” source pool?

Like I said I have been made to believe, Please prove me wrong. It is most believable to me because I come here to delete items that sell on my 1 ebay store that is linked and not to make a shipping label. I even have sales on ecrater and not here and that is a 1 or 2 a month site

zappys_closet says: April 08, 2018

I want this Bonanza click to know I’m not against Bonanza, quite the opposite I would love to see it get all up in eBay’s face. But with no name regonition This will not happen.

zappys_closet says: April 08, 2018

If Bonanza is a fail for me I can give an honest opinion from user experience. I know about 20 buyers in my area that are wanting to know how it’s working out.

zappys_closet says: April 08, 2018

20 sellers not buyers

zappys_closet says: April 08, 2018

Sellers in my area work well together, we trade and buy and sell from each other as well as share experience

I have been on Bonanza for many years now and I have paid for all the bells and whistles off and on, it makes no difference if your paying or not. If you do not have what someone is looking for it just will not matter.
I like Bonanza my sales are not great but it works, Have sold some big ticket items here. I think they need to work on their shipping program it stinks..
I as about everyone sell on more than one site, its no different than owning a franchise. Each client is familiar with the site they like so trying to drag or coach them to a site they may never have heard of could hurt or or help?

So with your experience you are saying that you would advise a seller not to purchase a store or become a paid member on Bonanza because it does not make a difference with sales volume. That is the opinion I have found a large number of previous and current sellers at Bonanza have.

zappys_closet says: April 11, 2018

at Some point in June I will have my own opinion of Bonanza that I can share with other sellers from my own experience, I must say 0 sales does not create a good seller experience

zappys_closet says: April 11, 2018

There seems to be a lot of censorship on the Bonanza community board.

I have had only 2 sales on Bozo so far. I like this site as I can make HPLs. I fave HPLs. I was sad when Esty took that feature away.
And TBH, the HPLs is really the only thing that makes this site fun for me. Being the slow traffic, I’d have quit this before I started.
You know, now that I think of it, I like the daily Bonanza Rewards too.
I agree that Bozo needs to get their name out there. This will drive traffic directly to the site so people can browse EVERYONE’S stuff, not just individual stuff that appears on Google Shopping~~which I don’t use, BTW.
I don’t have a cell phone, so I can’t use apps. I do put my listings on Tumblr, Twitter, Pinterest, and FB. It’s not work at all to do this. Just copy and paste.
I don’t think I’ve generated much traffic via these venues. But it’s no skin off my back to do it.
The great thing about this site is that there’s no up-front fees, unless someone buys a store (or whatever they call it here).
I was doing well on C-Bay (not sure if we are allowed to use other selling plaform names here) UNTIL I bought into the store. Then my sales plummeted! I barely even made enough $$$ to pay my monthly store fee.
Oh well. There’s a whole Hades of a lot of online competition. I think that’s the biggest issue.
I don’t have a store here~~yet. I don’t see me buying into one. I see what happened on C-Bay when I did it there.
I truly hope sales pick up for you. The more sellers we have here, the more the customers will be attracted to this site.
I agree that Bozo needs to step up the name recognition. I never heard of Bozo until right before I started selling here. A friend of mine sent a list on online selling platforms and Bozo was one of the sites on that list.
I must say that the shipping agreement other sites have with USPS/UPS does put the others ahead of the game. I would like to see Bozo do the same. Those shipping charges will make or break a sale.
