How long before your first sale?

I’ve been here for almost twenty days. I’m getting some views, a few welcomes and a couple of good lucks, but I have not yet sold anything. Do I need to purchase a package to sell or is it because there aren’t enough buyers shopping here? How long before your first sale and what do you sell?

Hello BeeZazzle.

I’d rework much of the titles. Put the meat and bone keywords at the front of your titles. Try and make them read more like a sentence but rather a sentence to where you are limited on space and it cannot be a perfect sentence like if you were writing a letter.

For example, this listing [URL removed]

https://www.bonanza.com/listings/Toe-Ring-Gold-Fish-Charm-Amber-Crystals-Stretch-Bead-Toe-Rings-Sizes-4-/[phone number removed]
Here’s the current title -

Toe Ring Gold Fish Charm Amber Crystals Stretch Bead Toe Rings Sizes 4 +

Remember that you have got these words here already listed as your attributes and traits on Bonanza…amber, gold, crystal, 4

You can repeat the above words somewhere around the beginning of your listing’s description…anything that you wanted the title to include but did not have the space. What you do not have in the title or could not squeeze in, Google shopping and Google organic will pick the rest up in your listing’s description.

So with this thinking, you could do the title like this -

Custom Toe Ring Trio Set Beaded Amber Blue With Fish Charm Sz 4 Up

Other miscellaneous [URL removed]

Leave the + out of your titles as Google does not like symbols in titles.

Also, are the toe stretch rings connected to each other at all or are they individual…whichever, I would make sure and mention this in the description :)

Remove this text here from the beginning of your description and put it at or near the bottom “OTHER SIZES AVAILABLE, PLEASE INQUIRE WITHIN”

Bonanza does not have it where you can give a buyer a drop down choice from within your listing so that they can automatically choose size?

Your customer base is very specific. You are in a niche market due to having a product of only toe rings. Maybe there is another product or two that you could add to your booth to bring in other shoppers…

I think your pictures are fine and the toenail polish makes toe rings on the internet look much better….There are some who use color nail polish and some where the tips of the toes are perfectly pedicured with tips and clear polish…both look nice but when there are just plain toes it looks funny to me lol. Your prices are great and I would not lower them at all. Maybe it is me and I do not usually say this, but I think there might even be a little room for raising them.

I do like these listings here with the leaves in the background…it gives more color while the black looks plain which I know is just an opinion but as a customer I find it more [URL removed]

I’d also think about allowing buyers to combine shipping. If someone is looking for a toe ring, I’m sure they may find another in your booth that they’d want to purchase. If you do decide to do something with combined shipping, make sure and put a blurb in your listings about it (at or near the bottom of your listing though). It’s really easy to set up. Just email me if you like or post about it in the forums here.

Setting yourself up at 3.5% FVF will not allow Bonanza to show your listings in Google shopping. You have to start at 9% for Bonanza to start showing your listings in Google shopping.

About my first [URL removed]

There was no magic number of listings when I got my first sale. Matter of fact I think I only had around 20 listings when I got my first sale…then later on I added the same exact product to my listings again and sold it………..then recently I went and got more of it and relisted again, so hoping for another sale of the same at some point.

I still believe that the more listings a seller has (variety matters a lot of the time), the more there is a chance for a sale. But a person should not go crazy on listings…just to have more listings. Tread carefully in this area. You do not want to end up with a whole bunch of stuff that will not sell. Having a cell phone on you so that you can get on the internet when you are out looking for inventory helps…because then you can see what the item has sold for and if it is worth getting compared to what you are buying it for.

Do not do what I did. I grew impatient, put listings back on reserve while thinking I might should go somewhere else and took them off all the while I am sure I missed out on 1 or 2 sales. There was one time though where my listings needed to be revised completely, so that time I do not regret putting them on reserve.

Bonanza is getting ready to step out with more advertising initiatives (other than what they have been doing), so hang in there. I believe it will get better.

I hope this helps.

One booth almost immediately, because it was a regular ebay buyer and I told them I was moving to Bonanza and no longer listing on ebay (that was in 2009)…Collectible teddy bears and dolls (now closed…sold most of the stock I had)

Second booth about 4-5 weeks..toys and books

Third booth vintage jewelry, coins etc..about 3 months, also the smallest and slowest booth

Also…Sharon, gave good advice..
IF you are not using social media
Create a business
Tweet if have account

Go to Selling Dashboards
Reports
And check on your google feed to see if there are any problems you can fix (that is if you opted to have your items sent to google (9% advertising)..if not…do so)

You have to do most of your own promotions here, I have over 1800 items up (Die-cast toys, Comic Books, Action Figures, Movies) and add new ones daily just to keep it fresh, this month has done quite well with about 11 sales so far, I promote on most of the Social sites with Pinterest being my main. I also sell on other sites but have my main booth here on Bonanza and when anything sells from the others I include a flyer advertising my booth here. I do the higher tier on advertising but I do not really notice much of a difference as far as traffic goes. Just do not get frustrated, it takes time to get things rolling with this one. I sold on eBay since 1998 and got so used to just listing and boom the traffic was there that it took me a while to get used to Bonanza. But, this is a great site with many helpful people. At this time I have InspiredCreations doing some advertising for me and it has brought quite a bit of traffic as well as a couple sales, she is very well priced and has a 30% off sale going on right now so you may want to try her out. With the holidays approaching it will get busier so be prepared. Good Luck!

Do you have your advertising set at at least 3.5%?
You have to promote your booth yourself. Promote it on Twitter, facebook, pinterest, etc.
If you don’t want to promote yourself there are several persons on here that will do it for a small fee.A few are mytexastreasures,mysticcreations2100,jdsgiftshackandpromotions.
In one of my booths I had my first sale in 5 days, In another booth 3 months, that was before I hired out to have my booth promoted on social sites.
I sell home decor,outdoor decor,gardening,crafts,toys,etc. Basically everything from A-Z.

I find it difficult to figure out how to use the site. There is little instruction and few prompts. I’d be willing to set a low fee for advertizing, but not 9% – if I could just click and DO it! I like the way I can edit photos here that I can’t do as well or easily on Etsy, but I need more words!

When I first opened my shop here I got my 1st sale after about 7 weeks & the 1st thing I sold was a purse. My focus is handmade jewelry but it is not what sells best for me here, I’ve sold a variety of items from video games & cosmetics to ladies perfume, clothing & baby items, & just about everything in between, with a few, jewelry orders here & there. Etsy works well for my handmade jewelry though.

Thank you so much everyone for your advice. But, personally, I think my titles and descriptions are fine, but I will get in there and tweak them a bit. I have my boutique set up somewhere else and it does extremely well by the way. In Bonanza’s search engine, when I type in toe rings, I’m right there on the first page, the second page, I’m everywhere. I don’t think its a problem with my titles nor my descriptions. Its whats in demand right now. And oh, how come there isn’t a drop down menu for just ring sizes? Bonanza has a many sizes to choose from, but for each size it wants a price value. I have a limited stock on each item and that doesn’t work for me. I think something should be done about that.

In the end you have to go with how you feel :) If things continue the same…give it some thought. Like I said, you make really nice toe rings. Good luck!!

You have been given some EXCELLENT advice from people / seller’s who know what they are talking about and are so willing to help.

I wish you much luck.
