Question for crafters on an item that i have??

Hello.

I picked up some letters and numbers, etc, that are puffy. The exterior material used is like silk but not silk. I’m thinking a good word to use is polyester? They are the same on each side.

If you could take a look and tell me what you think, please. These are not stickers. When I do a search on Google and put in puffy craft letters the only examples that seem to be coming up are puffy sticker letters.

What do you crafters do with these. Is it popular to sew them on or popular to glue them onto something? And if so, what is it popular to put these onto?

Thanks. I’m not a crafter, only with flower wreaths from years ago but not anymore (maybe one day I will get back to this). Anyways, so I have no idea about these. I do have a whole bunch of them that I’m sure someone needs but I need help in figuring out keywords and what their use is for, material made with, etc.

Here is a link on Bonanza that has a photo of them in [URL removed]
https://www.bonanza.com/listings/Puffy-Arts-Crafts-Letters-Numbers/[phone number removed]
And here is a u-tube video to show as an example about what I mean with the word puffy. The u-tube shows felt but mine are more like silky…

I hope it is okay to post the last link. I’m thinking it is okay since it is not a link for another selling site or product to purchase.

Thanks,

Sharon

I clicked on the link you have and it came up as not found. Years ago they sold letters like you describe infabric store, they sewed them on clothing.

Thank you bargain. Was it the link for the listing? I’ve got that listed as save for later, so maybe that is why. Let me see if I can get a photo to display here. Probably not but if not, I will temporarily make it live.

Okay. The link should be viewable now.

I think I know what BargainHunder is talking about, it was the 1st thing i thought of as you described them, but the photo you listed is not the same letters I was thinking of, I’m not sure what they are for. Sorry.

Yes, it would have been helpful if my link had been live to begin with. Thank you Misskeech. It’s the first time I’ve seen this. I even tried putting the UPC codes in google search but they do not come up. I think cshort has the right idea. I just need to be crafty and think of what kids could glue

these onto.

Actually, the only thing I’ve ever seen that uses these puffy letters and numbers is kid’s craft projects, where they glue them on whatever they are making. I’ve been involved in lots of craft groups, including kids, adults and senior citizen groups, and I’m simply never seen them used any other way. I would guess if you were using them on items that had to be washed, they might not hold up very well. I’d take the risk and test at least one to see how it would hold up to washing – hand? machine?

They could be made of really cheap rayon, too……

EmpressDepot says: July 03, 2018

I never thought of rayon. I bet you this is what these are made of. Really good advise. I appreciate it. I will glue one to something and hand wash it. Can you think of things the kids could glue these onto by any chance? I"ve never done craft projects with kids. I’ve also only ever had nieces..

nieces and nephews. Thanks!!

I’ll have to think about it for a few days, and then get back to you, because off hand, nothing special comes to mind.
