Slow sales - no sales??

Slow Sales – No Sales? Here’s one way I did it.

I created my own website where I display my old classic ads for cars, trucks, gas, oil, etc. As I print mostly for buffs and model railroaders (t-shirts, mugs, clocks, signs, etc…) I do get a good amount of visitors to the website. Tucked in the website I do have links to my Ebay store. As I’ve cut back in Ebay (trying to retire or at least cut down the time I spend printing) I have gone from 1000+ listings down to maybe 200. Sales have dropped but this is what I wanted.

I constantly add new ads and keep getting new visitors who in turn, visit my Ebay store.

What it boils down to, create your own website with a subject that you are experienced in AND deals mainly with what you are selling. Make jewelry? Have a site about how to clean rings, showing different stones, kinds of metal, etc… Sell Vintage stuff? Explain what is vintage, photos, how to tell vintage from new, etc.. Just be sure your website is about what you are selling. Hate going to a website where they show how to paint a sign and the link(s) to their store is for used books.

In your website, use photos/artwork as your link. Use sparingly (maybe one per 3 pages but always on the index page. Have an about us [URL removed] describe why the website, what you do, experience, etc..
I could go on but the main point is to create a website to draw visitors. Keep your content fresh and interesting. Make ’em come back for more. Have some links to your store/listing.

Me? I’m Fred from Melbourne FL. Retired USMC Started in mail order in 1969, printing in 1987 and online since 1996. Ebay since 1999. I only understand maybe 5% of what I know so what little I know I would like to share and hopefully someone may get something out of it.

You cannot depend on sitting back and expecting someone to find your products. YOU have to bring them to your listings. I do not use paid advertising as I use my website for traffic. Traffic that turns visitors to customers. I don’t use social media as I don’t know how it works nor have a desire to learn it. Being 72 I don’t have the patience either.

Thank you for reading this.

A lot of good information, but I wish you would link to your Bonanza booth.

If just the website is working for ya, then don’t worry about the social media. I totally understand that reasoning! The good thing about social media is that it does get your items out to thousands if not millions. Just saying….
