What can be done about other sellers copying my ad

Been selling on Bonanza now for 4-6 months and finally was getting some increased hits and sales , I was getting 60-100 views at day , then all of a sudden it was cut in half overnight. So I did a little looking around and found a “new” bonanza seller that has copied my listing and ad, offering a lower price.
I had this problem over on eBay for years and now It’s happening here.
Any thoughts or suggestions

No suggestions, since i dont know what can be done about it….we talked about this a year or so ago in these forums, it looks like some other country is doing it….they copy the exact picture, and try to sell it for less…..if you notice that you are getting lots of people liking your items or following your booth, that’s probably it……I found about 35 of my pics and descriptions up on some site last year…..however when I googled it, there was a suggestion NOT to contact these people as they want you to come and tell them to take it down and then they can get your email address and do whatever it is they do with email addresses…..Its just a mess and i think its happening everyplace, not just bonanza.

I’d report it to Bonanza. I had to report this over on eBay once. Seller copied my listing and copied the photo and had the item listed for way less. Ebay took the seller’s listing down because it showed my listing was up/active before his was.

This is very unprofessional when sellers do this. And yes, it is happening all over the internet…..lots of times over seas. When I had my own website, an international site had copied some of my listings and my photos. I could not believe it when on the screen with my items they actually had the items up for sale….as if they had the items in their possession. I never could get the site to take them down.

I’d be willing to hear some suggestions on how I could have gotten the site to take them down.

One idea for Bonanza to do about our images not being copied is to setup for every image we upload to be watermarked with our username and for the description of each item, the description text can be created into an image and watermarked as well. This idea will take some time at first to implement, but will deter if not stop all together, others from doing any copying of our images and/or description. Contact me for more details on how to do the item description into an image.

If your item description is an “image”, then Google Shopping can’t index the description

And, watermarks on photos are also a Google issue.i

Yep, has happened to me several times and it’s infuriating. You put so much work, time and effort into something and BOOM! Some foreigner steals your item when it shows as a “seller” they nab it and sell it for a song because the dollar goes further in their countries. Right now South Korea is selling DVD’s as low as 9-cents with a small shipping charge. That’s just crazy and proves beyond doubt that this “globalism” shtick does more harm than good, IMO. The only thing you can really do is alert the FTC to what happened to you. They’re investigating things like this right now and more reinforcement from U.S. citizens sure can’t hurt. Just go to ftc.gov and find the “submit a complaint”.

unfortunately..happens everywhere…there is even a seller here (been reported) that was copying literally hundreds of esty listings from many different sellers and actually selling for more here…

I too have had the same problem over at Ebay of a seller stealing my pictures and selling for less the same item. After all, why take a picture of the product when they can steal it from someone else? It is so sad what our world has come to and the dishonesty of people. No morals at all!

well you can copyright your pictures. its very easy theres tutorial vids on youtube and theyre a big help. as for the solution my motto is to outwork and outsmart my competition. I came up with a stunningly good idea on how to market a certain item on ebay and amazon. the next day lots of ppl had copied my idea. i didn’t get mad, i didn’t waste any time. i just decided to do what i always do. outwork and outsmart my competition
