Berkeley. She does underpainting in acrylic and then applies oil paint and oil glazes. I use photographic faux techniques and I make sketches from nature. I see my motifs as metaphor or myth -- symbols of nature, the fruits of the earth, man?s artistic creations. I do not paint the turmoil of contemporary life. I add ?Visual Quotations? from the Masters of the Renaissance, and 17th century Dutch and Spanish Masters, among others, as homage to them. I sometimes include ?Literary Quotations? (Bible, Goethe, Rimbaud, Wendall Berry etc). I include art of past centuries to provide continuity with historic art in my own work.
