As a former worker for the countries battered women?s movement, I personally donate to charity out of every sale. I worked for both the Florida and then the National Coalition(s) Against Domestic Violence. In that time, I learned much, answered hotline calls and feel that these groups make a difference in the quest to end societal conditions which lead to partner violence, intimate partner violence, domestic violence as well as other forms of abuse. As a survivor of abuse recently due to my disability, I was very concerned about escaping and wholly supported when I called the hotline myself. I never thought I would need assistance in facing my particular situation, but in the throws of abuse, it took me a few to remember the National Domestic Violence Hotline. When calling, I was referred to a local program for disabled individuals going through similar abuse. For over 35 years, I have had the number memorized. Now that the Hotline and the Coalition operate under one roof, I thought a 55 campaign for my 55th year alive would be a great way to give back!
