Belonging to my friend’s grandfather, this “Vintage Briggs Stratton C448 Ignition Car Key" is from the 1940s. It was found in a box of pins, buttons, jewelry, penknives, political buttons, patches, mementos, keys and memorabilia that had been stored in the bedroom closet of her parents home. The key was from her grandfather's 1942 Federal. Her parents are getting ready to move to a retirement home and she has asked me to help sell some of their things, including this Collectible Ignition Key; it comes from a smoke-free, pet-free home. With a length of approximately 1 7/8th inches, this single sided key is made of a light-weight, sturdy metal.
One side is Marked "Briggs Stratton" inside an oval cartouche. The other side is Marked "Briggs Stratton Corporation - Milwaukee, WIS, USA - C448".
