In that time, I learned much, answered hotline calls and feel that these groups make a difference in the quest to end societal conditions which lead to partner violence, intimate partner violence, domestic violence as well as other forms of abuse. As a survivor of abuse recently due to my disability, I was very concerned about escaping and wholly supported when I called the hotline myself. I never thought I would need assistance in facing my particular situation, but in the throws of abuse, it took me a few to remember the National Domestic Violence Hotline. When calling, I was referred to a local program for disabled individuals going through similar abuse. For over 35 years, I have had the number memorized.
