This could possibly represent: 222nd Infantry Regiment: This regiment served notably during World War II as part of the 42nd Infantry Division (the "Rainbow Division"). They were activated on July 14, 1943, and saw intense combat in Europe, distinguishing themselves in battles like Operation Nordwind and Operation Undertone. If the collar disk is from the WWII era, this is a very strong possibility. Or 222nd Field Artillery Regiment / Battalion: This unit has a very long and rich history, tracing its lineage back to the Nauvoo Legion in 1844. It has seen service in the Mexican War, various Indian Wars, the Civil War, World War I (as the 145th Field Artillery), World War II, and the Korean War.
