Its non-adherent design minimises trauma at dressing changes, promoting comfort and concordance. Originally designed for the needs of sensitive and painful burn wounds, PolyMem dressings are thin polyurethane foam membrane dressings containing a non-toxic cleanser (F68 Surfactant) and a moisturiser (glycerol), with a semi-permeable film backing. The addition of a starch co-polymer within the foam helps bind moisture and concentrate growth factors produced by the body. PolyMem dressings are non-adherent and help to cleanse the wound whilst in place to minimise procedural pain and trauma when dressings are changed. The unique properties of a PolyMem dressing also help to reduce inflammation, promoting comfort and pain reduction while the dressing is worn. Clinical experience demonstrates that PolyMem dressings actively encourage the healing process and are suitable for fragile skin.
