Descripción del Artículo

Shade Perennial -Bleeding Heart Seed- Heirloom, Classic Bleeding heart is a classic shade plant that produces gorgeous flowers. The common bleeding heart (Lamprocapnos spectabilis; formerly Dicentra spectabilis) got its name for its pillow-like, heart-shaped flower that dangles like a single pendulous drop. Bleeding hearts are shade-loving woodland plants that bloom in the cool of spring. Although they stay in bloom for several weeks, the plants often become ephemeral, disappearing for the rest of the summer if exposed to too much sun or heat. The roots stay alive, and the plant will regrow in fall or the following spring. Bleeding heart is a great choice for shady or wooded gardens. Be aware that you may not see blooms on your plant for the first couple years. Growing bleeding heart from seed is one way to do it, and although it takes more time and patience, you may find that starting with seeds is a rewarding process. Can You Grow Bleeding Heart from Seeds? It takes time for the seeds to germinate, but once they do, they will grow well in the right conditions. Growing Bleeding Hearts from seed can be a rewarding, though somewhat patient, process. A crucial step for successful germination is stratification, which mimics the natural winter conditions these seeds require. Here's a breakdown of the process, with a focus on stratification: **Understanding Stratification** * Bleeding Heart seeds have a dormancy period that needs to be broken before they'll germinate. Cold stratification provides the necessary chill. * This process involves exposing the seeds to cold, moist conditions for a specific period. **Stratification Methods** Here's how to stratify Bleeding Heart seeds: * **Cold Stratification in the Refrigerator:** * Gather your Bleeding Heart seeds. * Prepare a moist medium: Use a mix of peat moss, vermiculite, or perlite. Moisten it thoroughly, but don't let it become soggy. * Place the seeds in a plastic bag or container: Put the moist medium in a sealable plastic bag or container, and then add the seeds. * Seal and refrigerate: Seal the bag or container and place it in your refrigerator. * Duration: The seeds typically require 6 to 8 weeks of cold stratification. * Monitoring: Occasionally check the moisture level of the medium. If it's drying out, lightly mist it. * **Natural Outdoor Stratification:** * If you're planting in the fall, you can sow the seeds directly into the ground. * The natural winter conditions will provide the necessary stratification. * Be aware that germination may be more variable with this method. **Sowing the Seeds** After stratification: * **Indoor Sowing:** * Prepare seed trays or pots with a well-draining seed-starting mix. * Sow the seeds about 1/2 inch deep. * Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. * Place the trays or pots in a warm location with indirect light. * Germination can take several weeks to a few months. * **Outdoor Sowing:** * If you stratified outdoors or are sowing in spring after indoor stratification, choose a location with partial to full shade and well-draining soil. * Sow the seeds about 1/2 inch deep. * Keep the soil moist until the seedlings are established. **General Growing Tips** * **Soil:** Bleeding Hearts prefer rich, well-draining soil with plenty of organic matter. * **Shade:** They thrive in partial to full shade. * **Watering:** Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the growing season. * **Patience:** Growing Bleeding Hearts from seed requires patience. It may take a couple of years for the plants to mature and bloom. =s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s==s=s=s=s=s=s=s= Free shipping to Canada- and USA Selected seeds only seehttps://www.ebay.ca/usr/okiger-2i55iwk =s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s==s=s=s=s=s=s=s= Shipping of Seeds and Cuttings: Orders are shipped via Canada Post Mail unless otherwise specified.
