This hand painted Japanese Hakata boy doll/figurine is posed in a fighting stance. The hand painting is still vibrant, very detailed and precise. He appears to be made of a lightweight, hollow, chalk ware/ceramic material. He is in excellent shape for his age, minus the stick or sword that would have been held in his hands. Japan started exporting Hakata dolls soon afterwards.
