2001 Serigraph in color on wove paper. Signed in pencil, lower right and numbered 183/350
Tarkay creates beautiful scenes that are full of color and emotion, creating dreamscapes that hinge on the border of realism. ?Woman to Market? illustrates a woman in blue, lounging in the marketplace. Her attention is focused inward as the world buzzes around her, clearly defined by Tarkay?s signature use of color.

Very good condition with only small blemishes on nice frame.
Artist Itzchak Tarkay was born is 1935 in Austria. His Family spent a year in a concentration camp during WWII, and emigrated to Israel shortly after the war. In Israel, he studied art and attended the Avni Art Academy. Tarkay became world renowned for his colorful cafe scenes and confident, bold depictions of women. His expressionistic paintings and prints are reminiscent of Matisse and Toulouse-Lautrec. Itzchak Tarkay died on June 3, 2012 of heart failure at the age of 77.
