This is an antiquarian, 1910 cloth-bound edition of "Max" by Katherine Cecil Thurston, published by Harper and Brothers Publishers, New York and London. The vintage novel follows the story of a young, Russian princess who disguises herself as a boy and flees to Paris to escape an arranged marriage. The adventure book, by a best-selling author of the day, is lauded as a fine read and would make an excellent edition for the classic novel or antiquarian book collector. The original owner's name and date of receipt (1910) are written on the inside cover. The book has remained in the same house since that time. The novel is in good shape for a 110 year old edition. Binding remains tight and pages are clean albeit yellowed with age. There is 100 plus years of shelf wear on the edges and corners.
