The reverse is an exact reproduction of the northern "rose", stained- glass window. The foundations of Notre-Dame Cathedral date back to 1163 and it is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 850th anniversary in 2013 inspired Monnaie de Paris to honor the Cathedral by minting a medal. After the tragic fire that occurred on April 15th 2019 which destroyed part of this historic monument, Monnaie de Paris has minted a re-edition of this medal to support the reconstruction of Notre-Dame, donating 50 euros from the sale of each medal.
