The contacts close as long as pressure is applied and open when pressure is removed. Contacts can activate alarm circuitry; doorbells; cameras, etc. Switch is 0.75" X 1.5" X 0.025" Thick. Has 3.2" L flat ribbon cable with easy to use 2-slot female header connector attached. New, you must cut them to use them. Adhesive is not permanent and you may wish to glue the switch down in your application.
