These are a pair of antique 10K yellow gold lab ruby and rock quartz leverback earrings. The rich red color of the lab-created ruby main stones is combined with the secondary rock crystal stones, that creates a beautiful and unique design. Viewed from the front the depth of the stones makes them appear deep red, though from the side or reverse side they appear deep strawberry pink. The stones are large, 13.9 mm and about 7.7 mm deep. Together both earrings weigh 8.4 grams. Read further for more info on these earrings. Here is the story on these. They are part of my personal collection that since moving to Oregon I just don't wear them anymore. Not anxious to sell them but it's time for someone else to love them as I have. I love large stones in my jewelry, bold that knock your socks off. Around 28 years ago or so I lived in California and would go to Quartzite Arizona for the show and swapmeet over the winter for several different years. One year near the Four Corners area I found these earrings and was wowed by them instantly and purchased them on the spot even though one of the earrings had part missing. It is the lever part that was gone. So, a jewelry guy I knew there at the show replaced the lever part with a gold vermeil .925 lever similar in design so I could wear them immediately for the holiday events in the area while I was there. I could have just replaced the top with other findings, but I would lose the clear stones. I wanted them as they were and that is the way they have stayed ever since. The earrings are not marked but I've often thought the little dots at the center of the reverse side of the settings is where they were once marked but have worn since it is the high spot. They have an amazing open bowl-shaped basket filigree like setting with stones about the size of a dime. Check the photos. On my Presidium gem tester, they register as Ruby, so they have to be lab created especially due to their remarkable size. The clear stones test as Quartz. Gold tests strong for 10K. Less but still positive for 14K so probably somewhere in-between. My guess is they were sold originally as 14K but are not Plumb. Check my feedback, if in doubt about purchasing these earrings. Plus, if sold they have to go through the Authenticator before you receive them. Long story but a relevant one to explain why they are the way they are. Being sold As-Is.
