Vintage original 47 x 63 in. French grande poster from the classic 1930's post-WWI themed war comedy, BLOCK-HEADS, released in 1938 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) and directed by John G. Blystone. Stan, who has remained faithfully at his World War I post for twenty years, finally comes home where his best friend, Ollie, takes him in, thus allowing him to discover the many conveniences of the modern world. The cast includes Patricia Ellis, Minna Gombell, Billy Gilbert, and James Finlayson. This poster was issued for a 1950's theatrical tel-release in France. The design features stylized artwork by Bohle (his signature is near the center of the right border) depicting American doughboys Stan (Stan Laurel) and Ollie (Oliver Hardy) in uniform as they are oblivious to the plane and nearby explosions while in a trench. Unrestored and folded as originally issued, it is in fine+ condition as shown.
