Bob Uecker, born on January 26, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was a former MLB player and long-time broadcaster known for his humor and engaging storytelling style. He played as a catcher for teams including the Milwaukee Braves and St. Louis Cardinals from 1962 to 1967, finishing his playing career with a .200 batting average and being part of the Cardinals’ World Series championship team in 1964. Uecker transitioned to broadcasting after retiring from playing, serving as the primary radio voice for the Milwaukee Brewers for over 54 seasons and earning the Ford C. Frick Award from the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003. In addition to baseball, he had a successful acting career, notably starring in the sitcom Mr. Belvedere and portraying “Harry Doyle” in the Major League film series.
