BURMA Pick#....................63 Banknote Book # 1008a Denomination ....35 Kyat Date.....................1986 Condition............AU - No pin holes! Some corner nubs. Comments?...... Series prefix HB. General Aung San in uniform - the most celebrated nationalist leader Burma has ever known on front. He was instrumental in securing Burma's independence from Great Britain. "Nat Thar" (mythical dancer), peacock on reverse. Watermark: General Aung San Printer: Security Printing in Wazi, set up by Giesche Deverient. Kyat = round and flat. It was rumored that the odd denomination was chosen because the ruler General Ne Win believed in numerology, the mystical relationship between numbers and physical objects or living things. The whole set of odd numbered notes were demonetized only 13 months later. There was no exchange provisions for these notes, representing 75% of the country's currency! The owners simply lost their total value. Image is not exact note in lot. NEVER A RESERVE !! CURRENCY DEN I combine shipping - all lots after first mailed FREE!
