California Buckwheat Eriogonum fasciculatum almost doesn?t need soil: give it a pile of rocks in full sun and it will probably be right at home. Once its root system is established, it can live for up to 50 years, requiring only the seasonal rainfall. It frequently flowers for months on end in the heat of summer after other flowers have called it quits. It supports a diversity of wildlife-bees, wasps and other insects are attracted to it and will put on a show-beautiful to watch! What?s not to love?! VERY Drought tolerant. Excellent sand dune binder and cliff hanger. This variety has white flowers that turn pinkish as it ages. Its about 4 ft X 4 ft. tall when mature. This is not the ground cover size. You'll be receiving fresh organic seeds grown in CA. 150 + seeds-The seeds are quite small and will be mixed with the seed "cotton" that surrounds them-plant all together. see 2 week old seedlings and date tag. I'm starting some new plants now (8-23) and will transplant those into individual containers shortly and plan on planting out some new plants soon. PS as you have noticed the seeds are very very tiny. Almost microscopic. Just sprinkle the chaft and dust and what is in the seed packet on top of the soil and you will notice that they germinate within 5 to 7 days. someone asked the other day: How many seeds are you offering in this deal? It is truly hard to say. The seeds are so tiny that we cannot count them. They come enclosed in this "cotton" like substance, and they are planted with the cotton. But we offer a generous amount of seeds, and you should have dozens, if not 100's, of plants coming up from each packet. And the seeds are very easy to grow, coming up in 5-8 days-although tiny. I start mine in a small pot and I do not cover (or very lightly). As said, they come up very quickly. After about 3 weeks more or less, they can be transplanted to about a half dozen plants per plot, and then they will readily grow to transplant-to-outside size rather quickly.
