Descripción del Artículo

About the item: One of the best issues of Detective Comics from the 1980's, especially for fans of Sherlock Holmes. Detective Comics #572, featuring the 50th anniversary of the series (and, coincidentally, the 100th anniversary of Sherlock Holmes) is a true classic of the Copper Age. Writer Mike Barr brings together some of DC's greatest detectives in this multi-chapter story, including Elongated Man, Slam Bradley (a lesser known DC gumshoe from the Golden Age created by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson and developed by none other than Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster), and of course Batman and Robin. Sherlock Holmes serves as the impetus of the adventure, and the issue includes is own stand-alone period Holmes tale that plays out in the main story. To the shock of the other characters (even Batman is caught off guard), Holmes himself, aged but spry, makes a touching cameo at the end of the issue. Best of all, this copy is signed by hand by contributing creators Mike Barr (writer), Alan Davis (artist on the first and last chapter of the comic), and Carmine Infantino (artist on chapter 3, which focused on the Elongated Man). Infantino's signature is a bit difficult to see given where he signed it (near Holmes' knees) and the type of pen he used, but it is there and is easier to see if held up just right to a light source. Part of CGC's special Signature Series, it will be shipped with the utmost care. Of note, per GPA Analysis, no 9.8 SS copy has never come to market and, per CGC's census, there are only four 9.8 SS copies extant.
