Descripción del Artículo

22? unknown 1960s walking doll. This is the actual doll shown on page 144 of the book "Dolls of the 1960s and 1970s" by Cindy Sabulis published in 2000. This all-original novelty doll is dressed in old Mattel store stock clothing. Her outfit includes Mattel?s Charmin? Chatty doll's original outfit (minus the shoes) with a walking tag pinned on the front. In addition, she has the rare American Airlines bag and hat from Charmin? Chatty?s ?Let?s Talk ?N Travel in Foreign Lands? giftset. The Charmin? Chatty?s outfit has the original Mattel tag cut out (a tiny bit of the copyright symbol still remains). The hat is stapled onto the doll?s head and is tagged ?Japan? inside. The doll has platinum blond (white) hair, and a vinyl head with open and shut eyes. Her torso and limbs are lightweight plastic. She is is marked ?4577/K9? on her neck. The thin, brittle plastic legs have long hairline cracks all the way down the plastic, at least three, maybe more, on one leg, and one on the other leg (see photos). The white sections of the outfit top is dirty looking and yellowed. This doll may have been offered as a promotional doll by American Airlines, although it?s more likely she was put together by some foreign manufacturer who bought up old store stock from companies and reused it. It is a rare piece for Chatty Cathy collectors or American Airline memorabilia collectors. Only one other known example of this doll has turned up on the collector?s scene before or since the doll was first shown in the 2000 Dolls of the 1960s and 1970s book. Thanks to the Bonanza person who shared information about a similar doll that she owns with us. If anyone else has a similar doll, please let us know as we are always interested in learning about other examples of this rare doll. PLEASE READ REGARDING SHIPPING COST: This doll will be shipped in a large box, so if the shipping cost displays outrageously high for you, it probably means dimensional shipping charges kicked in, or the automatic shipping calculator didn't calculate it the most economical way to ship it. Shoot us a message (before you buy it) with your zip code and we can check to be sure you are getting the best shipping cost.
