Descripción del Artículo

Advance Reader's Copy/Uncorrected Proof. Collectible item. An Advance Reader's Copy (ARC) is a paperback book published prior to the hardcover retail editions. These uncorrected proofs are published in very limited quantities. Many serious collectors consider ARCs/Uncorrected Proofs to be the true first edition. They're "not for sale" because they're intended solely for publicity and media reviews, making them rare and very collectible. ARCs may lack the final artwork, formatting, and binding of the finished product. The text of an advance edition may also differ slightly from the market book (the final version that is distributed for sale), because changes may be made after advance readers make comments or find errors in the manuscript. Don’t miss the laugh-out-loud novel of the year! Online, you can choose who you want to be. If only real life were so easy… Emma Nash may be down, but after months of wallowing, stalking her ex online and avoiding showering—because, really, who’s going to care?—Emma’s ready to own her newly single status, get out with her friends and chronicle her dating adventures on her private blog. But life online doesn’t always run smoothly. Stumbling upon her mother’s Tinder dating profile, getting catfished and accidentally telling the entire world why her ex-boyfriend Leon’s not worth any girl’s…um…time… Okay, those were disasters. But surely nothing else can go wrong? Filled with fun, flirty encounters and heartwarming friendships, Dating Disasters of Emma Nash will shock and delight scores of readers looking for something fresh. From School Library Journal Gr 10 Up—British teen Emma has a melodramatic meltdown when she learns that her boyfriend Leon (who seems to have been completely avoiding her for months) is now publicly dating pretty, athletic Anna. Emma takes to her bed in despair, stops bathing, and wallows in her own misery. Attempts by mom and friends to help Emma move on are for naught. Emma tries dating tech geek Laurence, but his silence puzzles her. Dates with overly amorous Greg are unsatisfying but serve to temporarily reignite Leon's interest. It's only when Emma starts looking outside of herself that she begins to see what is really important and focus on personal growth beyond hormonal attachment. The novel is written entirely in blog format, which some readers might find tedious. The British colloquialisms might also be distracting for some others. References to a marathon masturbation session ring true to young adult experience and makes this more appropriate for older teens. VERDICT This slightly funny novel has some appeal for its audience; an additional purchase for large collections.—Susan Riley, Mamaroneck Public Library, NY Review "Told primarily through Emma's hilariously angst-y blog posts, Seager's debut is an epistolary novel for the technological age." -Kirkus Reviews About the Author Chloe Seager grew up in London with her Mum and much-loved cat, Katie. She studied English Lit Drama at university, where she sadly realised she couldn't act, but did rediscover her love of children's books. Children's Lit was one of her favourite modules and made her wonder why grown-ups ever stopped reading it. She now works as a YA/Children's literary agent.
