I photographed this broken ceramic Angel in my kitchen that had sat in my garden and adorned the flower beds and bird feeder in my back yard. It had been weathered by harsh sun, rain, heat and cold for a year. I brought it indoors to wash and clean and as I sat it on the counter top, it fell to the floor. The wear from heat and sun caused the once durable plaster to shatter on the floor in pieces. I was upset and disappointed when that happened and hated to see such a beautiful thing be destroyed, laying in pieces before me. Often in our lives, we experience unexpected loss, hurt, death and sorrow and we feel that all hope is gone and just feel the world that we know has come to an end. The beautiful thing is I have repaired enough damaged ceramic goods at my mom?s house to become an expert at repairing broken things. So with some Elmer?s glue, patience and holding things together with my hands until they dried, I repaired these feathered friends and they are now good as new, and fellowshipping together again like nothing even happened. I put on a new coat of paint, glue and sealed it with a fixative finish and you would never even know it once lay shattered in pieces looking like all hope was lost. The once outdoor garden Angel is now an indoor angel where the elements are not as severe. This angel now sits safely in my office where it watches over me and my birds as we work and go about our daily lives, as the Heavenly Angels often do. What I learned from this shattering experience is that God is the glue that can fix any problem, wipe every tear and repair broken hearts. He is an expert at fixing broken things. No matter how much pain people, the devil and this world may dish out, God is bigger then them all. This is God?s promise to those who will simply believe and put their hurts, sorrows and pain at his feet. I have lived long enough to see my worst nightmares come true, only to find that even the worst of nightmares can have the happiest of endings, if Jesus is at the wheel of our lives navigating us through the worst of storms. Life will often test you to see what kind of faith you have and as the old saying goes, what does not kill you, makes you stronger but even if it kills you, if you belong to Christ, your trials are over and you can rest with Him for all eternity. ?Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband; and I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ?Behold, the dwelling of God is with men. He will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself will be with them; he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away.? And he who sat upon the throne said, ?Behold I make all things new.? Also he said, ?Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true.? And he said to me, ?It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the fountain of the water of life without payment.
