This is an authentic saltwater cultured pearl produced by the Pinctada Margaritifera oyster found exclusively in Tahiti and several other islands of French Polynesia. The lip of this oyster where the pearl is formed displays a full color spectrum in a narrow stripe brodering the oyster's rim. Each Tahitian pearl that is created borrows one or more colors from the color spectrum and refines it into a dark-based incandescent glow forming the body color and overtone of the Black Tahitian Pearl, also called black South Sea pearls or simply Black Pearls, cherished for their incredibly exotic colors and mirror-like luster.
