Hand-Painted Antique "Gone With the Wind" Oil Lamp (1895) Green with Red Roses Chimney: "MACBETH" No. 14 Pearl Glass Base: No, 213 Burner: "FOSTORIA" Patented September 9, 1890, April 11, 1893, and April 30, 1895, (The company, in Fostoria, OH was going through changes of ownership during the time of challenges in the economy. The market demand and company financial base remained strong.) (Flying Eagle? symbol on burner) "Hurricane Lamp" became the popular way for the population to have lighting in the 1890's and early 1900's. What became know in more recent times as antique "Gone with the Wind" lamps. They have a top shade that is usually round and a matching bottom shade. They often have painted flowers on them, but can be plain. They became popular in the Antique Collector's market with the popularity of the movie, "Gone with the Wind." Condition is Excellent Pre-owned Condition, with no noticeable cracks, chips or flaws. It is a fragile antique. As a delicate antique, this will be disassembled and packaged extremely well for shipping. It will need to be re-assembled for display or use when unpacked.
