Howden's Field Pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo) is a classic heirloom variety developed in the United States by John Howden in the 1960s, specifically bred for uniformity, sturdy stems, and ideal shape for Halloween carving. This field-type pumpkin features deep orange, ribbed skin and thick walls, making it both decorative and durable. Fruits typically weigh between 20 and 30 pounds, with a round to slightly oblong shape and strong handles for easy lifting. It remains one of the most popular pumpkins for ornamental use and roadside market sales
