This is for a genuine Mercedes Star-branded locking gas cap in excellent working condition. This was mechanically refurbished including a new synthetic cork gasket. No marks, dings or dents including around the keyway. This was made by Huf as marked on the bottom. Lock your fuel tank. These older tanks are easy to siphon. A better reason to lock your fuel tank is to prevent someone from spiking your fuel system/engine. The mechanism on this works perfectly. You can refinish the top or wire brush it or leave it alone depending on how far you want to go. I've always assumed that the base of these is made of brass but it could very well be copper. It came out beautifully. Mercedes designed the locking feature on this to allow the cap to spin freely when locked. When unlocked the cap engages again. It is a great design and is very hard to defeat. The key is removable in either the locked or unlocked position. When unlocked it acts like a regular gas cap.
