Miss Foerster's criticism seems justified both by the reactions of the press and the indifference of the public, which supported the production for less than three weeks. Admirers of the work, however, maintain that it is a majestic and inspired score which would have prospered in a smaller theatre than the Ziegfeld. In view of the interest in Peter Grimes, aroused by its second broadcast performance next Saturday, our attention is this week directed toward Great Britain.
