LTG Transfer Sling is used primarily to: Move from or to a bed Move up in bed Raise or lowering Lift from the floor to a wheelchair or bed Wheelchair to car and back Move higher up in a wheelchair Transfer between bed and wheelchair and back Turn in bed Change Position Lift upper or lower body Changing cloth of patient or elderly Advantages This sling is easy to put in place and use. The non-fix handgrips allow a variety of grips for a good working position. This sling is easy to carry and store. Positioning The sling can be positioned in numerous ways, depending on the transfer to be completed and the circumstances of the patient. Moving from or to a bed When helping someone to lie down or sit up in bed (fig. 1), it can be hard to reach the shoulders and the legs at the same time. This sling is of great help in this situation. Place it around the lower legs and/or behind the shoulders (fig. 2). Raising/lowering If you are helping someone get up or sit down, tilt the patient forward for a natural transfer. Those who are unable or reluctant to bend are often heavy. By putting this sling around the hips, you can take on the weight of the patient along with your own body weight (fig. 3 and 9). If the patient is resistant to forward movement, place a sling around the shoulders and a ling Belt around the waist (fig. 4). Moving up in bed When moving a patient up in bed, most of the weight is usually on the hips. By putting the sling next to the hips (fig. 5), you obtain a good grip and a better working position. A sling may also be placed under the head and shoulders (fig. 6). The patient then slides upward more easily and is able to help out by pushing with the legs. Lifting a patient from the floor to a wheelchair or a bed If a light patient falls out of a wheelchair and is unable to get up, a sling is of great help. Place the sling under the patient's buttocks. Support the patient's back with your free hand (fig. 7). Sling also provides a good grip around the legs when a Gurney is being used for lifting a patient on to a bed (fig. 8). Moving up in a wheelchair If the patient is weak and has slipped forward in the seat, the sling will take weight off the patient's buttocks while you push against the patient's legs/knees to move him/her back into the seat (fig. 9). Transfers between wheelchair and bed A combination of products may be the best solution when performing an uphill transfer of a heavy patient who is unable to stand. In this example a Board, a Belt together with a Sling make a big difference (fig. 10). After the transfer, the Sling allows helpers to arrange the patient comfortably in bed (fig. 11). This sling is very helpful to lift a patient from wheelchair and shift to bed or lift a patient from bed and move to wheelchair with ease. Turning in bed When turning a patient in bed, the hip is usually the heaviest part of the body. The sling provides low friction and a good grip (fig. 12.
