Descripción del Artículo

Wooden handle with brass metal post mark stamp “ Postage Paid” from the 19 century before rubber stamps came into use. Quite old as rubber bases to stamping tools started to be introduced in the 1860’s however cannot determine the age as post offices needed durability given the volume of stamping. It wasn’t until the early 1900’s that the rubber became durable enough to withstand constant use. This stamp tool may be from the early 1900’s to about the early 1940’s. Not a commercial payables “paid” stamp but an actual post office cancellation stamp. Overall the tools shows some ink stains on the wood typical for it’s use and age but no chips or markings.
